Ready or Not is a 2019 American comedy horror film, written by Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The movie was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Samara Weaving, Adam Brody, Mark O’Brien, Henry Czerny, and Andie MacDowell star in the film. Grace (Weaving) is a newlywed who is pursued by her husband’s evil family as part of a wedding night tradition in the film Ready or Not.
When were the preparations for the film began?
In November 2017, Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett were hired as co-directors of the film. They were the members of the Radio Silence filmmaking collective. Casting took place between August and October 2018 after an initial release date was set. Principal photography started later that month and ended in November. Shoots taking place in and around Toronto and the surrounding Ontario area.
On October 15, 2018, principal photography for “Ready or Not” began. It was ended on November 19, 2018. Casa Loma, Sunnybrook Park, and the Claireville Conservation Area, as well as the Parkwood Estate in Oshawa, Ontario, were among the locations used for the 26-day shoot.
When was the movie released?
On June 17, 2019, the first trailer was released. Finally, the film had its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival on July 27, 2019. Later, on August 21, 2019, it was released theatrically in the United States.
After that, Ready or Not was released on digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray. Other than that, a 42-minute making-of documentary is included in the package. It’s an audio commentary with Samara Weaving, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, and Tyler Gillett, among others. There’s also a photo gallery and a joke reel on the audio, as well as executive producer Chad Villella.
On a $6 million budget, it received mostly favorable reviews from critics. The film grossed over $57 million worldwide.
Ready or Not made $28.7 million in the US and Canada. In other territories it grossed $28.9 million. For a worldwide total of $57.6 million on a $6 million production budget.
