When has the Minecraft published and developed?

Minecraft is a highly popular video game created by Mojang with a sandbox. The game was developed in the Java programming language by Markus “Notch” Persson. After several early test versions, it was finally published in 2009 as a paid public alpha for personal computers before being released in November 2011, with production being taken over by Jens Bergensten. With 200 million copies sold and 126 million monthly active users as of 2020, Minecraft has been ported to many other platforms and is the best-selling video game of all time.

How has Minecraft become successful?

Minecraft has been widely praised as one of the best video games of all time. Certainly, it has received many awards and been quoted. Above all, social media, parodies, merchandise, and the annual MineCon conventions have played a large role in success of the game. It has also been used in educational environments, especially in computer systems, since it has been integrated into virtual computers and hardware devices. In 2014, Microsoft acquired Mojang and Minecraft intellectual property for US$2.5 billion. Subsequently, a number of spin-off games, such as Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Earth have also been developed.

When was it first developed?

Minecraft’s initial version, now known as the Java Edition, was first developed in May 2009. Persson released a YouTube test video of an early version of Minecraft. He completed the Minecraft base program over a weekend that month and on 16 May 2009, a private test was released on TigIRC. As a developmental release on the TIGSource forums, the game was first released to the public on 17 May 2009. Based on feedback from the forums, Persson changed the game. Later on, this edition became known as the Classic version. Between September 2009 and June 2010, further developmental phases were released, dubbed Survival Test, Indev, and Infdev.

Minecraft Classic is a browser remake of Minecraft’s 2009 Classic edition. On 7 May 2019, to celebrate Minecraft’s 10th anniversary, the game was released. Despite the bugs present in the 2009 edition of Minecraft, Minecraft Classic recreates the game as it was in 2009. The game has a total of 32 types of blocks that players can put. The game also supports multiplayer with up to 10 players.
