The Office is an American mockumentary sitcom television series. It portrays the daily lives of office staff in the fictitious Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch. The show aired from March 24, 2005, to May 16, 2013, on NBC for a total of nine seasons. Certainly, it received great love from the audience and critics. Greg Daniels, the creator of the show, adapted the 2001–2003 BBC series of the same name for American television.

In partnership with Universal Television, Daniels’ Deedle-Dee Productions and Reveille Productions co-produced the series. In addition, Daniels, Howard Klein, Ben Silverman, Ricky Gervais, and Stephen Merchant were the initial executive producers.

The goal of the creators was to mimic the look of an actual documentary. Hence, the series was shot in a single-camera setup without a studio audience or a laugh track. Significantly, the show premiered on NBC as a mid-season replacement and ran for 201 episodes.

The Office has been nominated for several awards throughout all its seasons. Notably, the show went on to win a Peabody Award in 2006, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Golden Globe Award for Carell’s performance, and four Primetime Emmy Awards in 2006.
However, the eighth season was panned due to a drop in production. Many saw Carell’s exit in season seven as a contributing factor.
